Introduction

The National Arts Education Archive (NAEA) in 2015 is in its 30th year and is now under the management of Yorkshire Sculpture Park, (YSP) after more than 25 years of being managed by a Board of Trustees, which constituted the National Arts Education Archive (Trust).

The NAEA was established back in 1985 to provide a documentary trace of the development of arts education in the UK and worldwide, by collecting children’s and students’ work and the papers, letters and work of key educators and artists in the visual arts, music and language. This material, comprising more than 100 catalogued collections, is based in the Lawrence Batley Centre at YSP, and is available to researchers, students, lecturers and the general public on an individual basis by appointment. The Archive is currently open by appointment only on Mondays and Tuesdays each week.
